The AHDB Beef & Lamb animal health and welfare research programme aims to:

  • Develop alternative strategies to reduce reliance on chemical control of gastro-intestinal worms, such as breeding and management solutions.
  • Develop new management approaches and techniques to assess the health and welfare of livestock, permit pre-clinical diagnosis, and prompt early action.
  • Develop new and/or improve current methods to tackle external parasites, e.g. sheep scab, which are cost-effective and safe for the operator, the animal and the environment.

Details of our latest animal health and welfare research projects can be accessed via the menu on the left, or by clicking the links below. Please select beef, sheep or generic based on your area of interest, or you can email the R&D team about animal health and welfare issues.
