Creating a profitable and sustainable demand for beef and lamb inevitably includes stimulating demand in overseas markets. In 2013, exports of fresh, frozen and processed beef and lamb totalled Â£825 million, a 20 per cent increase from 2012.
Looking at exports of livestock products more widely and including associated products like hides, skins and offal, the figure could be as much as Â£2.34 billion.
AHDB Beef & LambÂ continues to work hard to help open new markets and create additional opportunities in existing ones, facilitating the process for those who want to export, remaining heavily involved in the UK Export Certificate Partnership, and working with sister organisations in other countries on common issues, like marketing and investment in product development.
