Investigating a low-cost, outdoor dairy beef system

This event will provide an update on work to develop a low-cost production system for dairy-bred beef calves. The key elements of the system are maximising output from grazed grass and reducing wintering costs by out-wintering cattle on fodderbeet, before finishing during their second season at grass.

 14:15              Review of cattle performance, Simon Marsh (Harper Adams)

14:35              Management of cattle on fodderbeet, Marc Jones (RSK ADAS)

14:50           Farm walk to see cattle being strip grazed on fodder beet, Chris Ruffley (Harper Adams), Simon Marsh & Marc Jones

16:00           Finish
