Challenge Sheep Discussion Group – Northumberland
November 13 @ 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Challenge Sheep is tracking 9,000 replacements from a range of English sheep farms over seven years to understand how flock performance can be improved. The project aims to generate new knowledge and highlight existing information on managing ewe replacements.
As part of the Challenge Sheep project, each participating farm will be hosting discussion groups at three points during the year. Led by the farm consultant and participating farmer, the third round of events will be held this autumn.
The event will cover:
- Update on lamb finishing
- Pre-tupping update
- Look at swedes and other crops grown in 2018
In addition, in order to get some discussion on other farm’s results please bring with you the following data if possible:
- Scanning data and final numbers of lambs sold/retained/reared in 2018
- Date and weight of first batch (not individual lambs) of lambs sold from 2018 lamb crop
- Date and weight of most recent batch of lambs sold from 2018 lamb crop
Please bring clean and disinfectable footwear.
