Laura Ryan, Strategy Director
Laura joined the organisation in August 2007, having previously worked as Marketing Manager for a catering butcher, wholesaler and butchery retailer. In her previous role as AHDB Beef & Lamb’s Head of Strategic Marketing, she worked with key suppliers, as well as managing the QSM scheme. In her current role of Strategy Director, Laura is responsible for promoting efficiency, sustainability and profitability in the beef and sheep meat sector.

Peter Hardwick, Head of Trade Development
Peter built his career in the meat industry working for various companies around the world before joining the MLC in 1994. Today Peter is head of trade development for AHDB Beef & Lamb and AHDB Pork, responsible for domestic and overseas marketing, as well as the current focus on export markets.

Dr Phil Hadley, Head of Supply Chain Business Development
Phil originally trained as a butcher in a traditional family abattoir/retail business, before qualifying and working as a meat inspector for several years. He is now AHDB Beef & Lamb’s Head of Global Supply Chain Development, working with the beef and sheep meat supply chain to improve efficiency and sustainability.

Clive Brown, Head of Regional Development
Clive has a practical farming background and spent nearly 20 years working for livestock marketing co-operatives, giving him an in-depth understanding of the supply chain. His current role as Head of Regional Development is one of industry relations and development, liaising with all relevant stakeholders, including primary producers.

Chris Lloyd, Director of R & D and KE Livestock
Chris started his working life with the National Sheep Association before joining EBLEX in 2003 as project manager for the Sheep Better Returns Programme (BRP). Before taking up his current role, Chris was Industry Development Manager for AHDB Beef & Lamb, covering all farmer-facing knowledge transfer activity across both beef and sheep.

Kim Matthews, Head of Research and Development
Kim Matthews joined the meat quality unit of the MLC in 1992. In 2008, he transferred to the newly-formed AHDB, where he provided expertise on carcase and meat quality. As Head of Research and Development for AHDB Beef & Lamb he is responsible for managing the team, including Signet Breeding Services.

James Wilde, Head of Communications
James worked in local, regional and national newspapers, then spent five years as a freelance PR consultant before joining AHDB in 2009. As Head of Communications, James is responsible for strategic delivery of communications output across AHDB Beef & Lamb.

Mike Whittemore, Head of Trade Marketing
Mike has worked in the meat industry for more than 40 years, beginning his career working for a butcher’s before joining the multiple retail sector. As AHDB Beef & Lamb head of trade marketing, Mike manages the trade marketing team and also overseas trade development function and its engagement with processors, independent and multiple retailers, wholesalers, foodservice operators and their supply base.

Jane Ritchie-Smith, Head of Consumer Marketing
Jane joined the organisation in 2004 as a brand manager, initially looking after the consumer launch of the Quality Standard Mark (QSM). Today, as Head of Consumer Marketing, Jane heads up AHDB Beef & Lamb’s consumer marketing team, responsible for the consumer communications programme.

Jean-Pierre Garnier, Head of Exports
Jean-Pierre has international experience of the whole meat chain, having worked for animal breeding companies and meat producers and processors, as well as major retailers. Jean-Pierre is now Export Manager for AHDB Beef & Lamb and AHDB Pork, working to developing new export markets.

Remi Fourrier, Export Manager – France
After several years working at the British Embassy, Remi Fourrier joined the MLC in 1992 as Export Manager in MLC’s French office. Since the creation of AHDB, Remi has continued with his work to improve the image of sheep, beef and pig meat in France with new initiatives for the retail sector.

Kathy Roussel, Head of Brussels office
A graduate in Political Sciences, Export and European Law with a specialisation in agricultural policies, Kathy worked for various organisations before joining AHDB in 2007. Now Head of the AHDB Brussels office, Kathy manages the team who act as an interface between the EU and the UK industry.
