Feed planning webinars and soil and nutrients workshops

AHDB Beef & Lamb has been working with Farmax since 2011 and has recently helped produce a UK version of its New Zealand software. The software helps grass and forage-based farms to understand supply and demand, to predict future grass covers and to assess how buying or selling stock could affect feed supply.

Two webinars are being held on 20 September and 4 October at 7.30pm. The first one will be an introduction to FARMAX and how feed demand and supply information is added in to the software. The second one will focus on using the software to model scenarios and analyse options.

Liz Genever from AHDB Beef & Lamb and Siwan Howatson from AHDB Dairy are running workshops in October and November to help livestock producers assess soil health, nutrient status, grass and forage yields and develop nutrient plans. They will be using the new nutrients recommendations for grass from Section 3 – Grass and Forage crops, of the nutrient management guide (RB209).
